2023 Acura MDX
The Acura MDX wraps a family-friendly SUV in a sleek package and then adds quick acceleration and easy handling. The MDX carries over to the 2023 model year without any changes other than offering the AcuraLink plan for free with every 2023 MDX. Here's a look at some of the equipment and features you can get with the Acura MDX.
Trim Levels
The base MDX comes with 19-inch wheels, Acura's Jewel Eye-styled automatic on/off LED headlights, and a panoramic sunroof. It also has heated side exterior mirrors, a power tailgate, and keyless entry. The Technology adds to this with power-folding mirrors and 20-inch wheels. Choose the A-Spec for black exterior trim elements, Shark Gray 20-inch wheels, and LED fog lights, or the Advance Package for different 20-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, and adaptive suspension dampers. The sporty Type S and Type S Advance have 21-inch wheels, Brembo front brakes, and Type-S front-end styling.
Engine
The base powertrain for the MDX is a 3.5-liter V-6 that generates 290 horsepower. It works with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Type S models use a 3.0-liter turbo V-6 with 355 horsepower. It also uses a 10-speed transmission, but it's tuned for a sportier performance. The base powertrain comes standard with front-wheel drive and offers all-wheel drive as an option, and the Type S engine comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Performance
Both engines provide the MDX with lots of power. The Type S has an extra punch and a suspension tuned for more agile handling. Its air suspension will adjust the ride height depending on the drive mode. The more powerful Type S engine will propel the MDX to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds, and the base engine will get it there in 6.4 seconds.
Interior
The MDX's interior is beautifully crafted. It has three rows of seats and room for seven people. It comes standard with simulated leather upholstery, heated front seats, and second-row seats that recline and slide. You'll get genuine leather in the Technology, which also adds rear window sunshades and ambient lighting. The A-Spec has a cabin intercom system, and the Advance adds a heated steering wheel.
Technology in the MDX starts with a 12.3-inch display screen with a touchpad controller, wireless charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Technology adds a GPS-linked climate control system and a 12-speaker ELS stereo system.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Acura MDX comes with a rearview camera system, traction and stability control, and the AcuraWatch suite of advanced driver aids. This bundle includes a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with mitigation, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It also has a traffic sign recognition system and road departure mitigation. Additional safety aids that come standard include hill start assist and a tire pressure monitoring system. Choose the Technology package for front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and a low-speed automatic braking system. The Advance adds a 360-degree surround-view camera system and a head-up display.
