New Year's Eve 8AM-2PM | Closed New Year's Day
Excitement fills the air as the Thanksgiving season quickly approaches. Although very fun, a holiday-season road trip could be quite a hassle, especially the days leading up to and following the American holiday… Here’s our Esserman Acura advice to you!
The Heart Of Your Road Trip:
Your vehicle is the foundation for a safe and enjoyable road trip. Don’t assume your vehicle is up and ready to hit the road because it has been operating smoothly prior to your trip.
- Check your tires! Bald tires are not reliable on long trips. Check the tire pressure and look for any possible danger such as nails, screws, glass, etc.
- Be certain that your car is up to date with routine oil changes as it could be dangerous to operate a vehicle that is not up to date with this necessary factor.
- Refill windshield wiper fluid! This is a necessary routine check that travelers often forget.
Check The Weather!
November weather is quite confusing. Sunny South Florida natives may not be accustomed to the freezing cold weather up north. Wherever you’re headed, be sure to check the weather forecast to make sure you have the appropriate accessories needed to adapt to climate change.
Have A Sense Of Direction
Accidents, weather inconveniences, and heavy traffic is expected during the holiday season.
It is important that you:
- Know where you’re going.
- Have a Plan B route if plan A fails.
Avoid Distractions
Alert and focused drivers are necessary for a safe road trip.
- Set aside electronic distractions (phones, tablets, smartwatches, etc) while operating the vehicle.
- Pre-program the GPS and adjust seats, mirrors, climate controls, and sound systems prior to driving.
- Properly secure children and pets and store away loose items that could roll around in the car.
Keep Your Children Entertained
Are we there yet? How much longer? These are the questions that are almost guaranteed with every road trip, but also are annoyingly distracting. We’ve got the solution for you: Games, iPods, iPads, in-car movies, coloring books and supplies, picture books, and puzzles are excellent at keeping children entertained. Pillows and blankets are also road trip essentials. Sleeping children means a quiet trip, with no distractions.
Make sure you’re prepared and ready for a fun family road trip! We hope everyone has an enjoyable, family-filled and delicious Thanksgiving!
